Extraordinary Ministers assist the pastor in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. Any confirmed, practicing Catholic is invited to become an extraordinary minister. Extraordinary ministers assist bringing Holy Communion to the English speaking homebound after the 8:00am Mass on Sundays. Extraordinary ministers assist bringing Holy Communion to the Spanish speaking homebound after the 8:30am Mass on Fridays.
Lectors & Commentators
Lectors share in the mission of proclaiming God’s Word to the worshiping community with the two readings. Commentators read the Introduction to the Mass, the Prayers of the Faithful, and the Announcements. Any confirmed (or to be confirmed this Fall) practicing Catholic is eligible to serve in this ministry. Lectors & Commentators will be alternated from week to week so those who have signed up will have an opportunity to do both.
Sacristans help set up for Mass. They prepare the hosts, the wine, the vessels and all of the other necessary elements. Sacristans arrive at the church 30 minutes before Mass. Funeral & Wedding Sacristans help set up for the funeral and wedding masses.
Greeters welcome the congregation as they come together for worship and pass out bulletins as the people leave. Everyone of any age is eligible to be a greeter. Very young children should be accompanied by a parent.
Ushers serve the worshiping community by assisting in the seating of people, helping those with any special physical needs and collecting the offering of the congregation. There is at least one annual training session held in the church for new ushers.
Choir: The Full Choir sings at the second Sunday Mass and assists at special events. Rehearsals are at 9:40am every Sunday in the choir room or the church. New members are always welcome and invited to join even if they can only sing at certain times. The Hispanic Choir supports the 7:00pm Saturday Mass. Cantors lead the Congregation in song. Cantors also sing solo passages during the Mass. Accompanists: This is open to high school age on up to those with previous keyboard lessons who could handle accompanying church songs. Instrumentalists: This ministry is open to musicians high school age and older. Hispanic Instrumentalists support the 7:00pm Saturday Mass.
